Rahu and Ketu transits sidereal Taurus and Scorpio, respectively, on 22 September 2020 (mean; 19th if you use true) and will remain there until 12 April 2022. They will guide the collective to heal aspects of life related to Taurus (values, relationships, the arts, food, and money) and Scorpio (vulnerability, honesty, attraction, and emotional attachments).
Astronomy Meets Astrology
Rahu and Ketu are not planets, but invisible points in the sky where the orbit of moon intersect with the ecliptic, or orbit of the earth around the sun. In western tropical astrology these points are called the North and South node. They are also referred to as shadow planets or the dragon’s head and tail in Vedic astrology.
The Dragon’s Head
Rahu signifies lifelong personal and spiritual development for whichever house it is in the natal chart. During the 18-month transit, it will represent growth for the collective.
Taurus naturally rules the 2nd house. The collective will be guided to reflect or work on the pleasure center because that house is associated with money, food, and material possessions. Imbalances can appear as greed.
The bull governs the face, throat, neck, vocal chords, and the voice. Because Taurus is ruled by Venus, this is connected to the heart chakra (not throat, which is ruled by Mercury, who enjoys learning about the arts). Venus bestows the arts, especially instrumentalists, poetry, songwriting. This could be a time to invest time, money, and energy into the arts based on personal values.
The Dragon’s Tail
Ketu represents past lives, unhealthy habits and behaviors, and what needs to change for the area of life. It will reveal what needs to be healed in order for the Rahu aspect to unfold. Further, Ketu encourages healthier aspects of the sign it transits.
Scorpio is often criticized for being sneaky, yet revered for being sensual. The former is an imbalance, while the latter is where it’s balanced. Healthy Scorpio energy enjoys being passionate, is emotionally balanced, and somewhat wise.
The 8th house is ruled by Scorpio, where things that are hidden (talents, money, true self) and sometimes secrets. This is also the house of inheritance, healing, and transformation. A fondness for astrology, numerology, and tarot can be found here.
Mars rules Scorpio and the solar plexus chakra. Confidence, discernment, and overcoming fears will be an emphasis while Ketu is here. Scorpio, on the other hand governs the genitals and anus, which could be symbolic for elimination.
The Personal Dragon
We are both an individual and the collective. The Rahu-Ketu transit occurs a few days before Saturn retrograde in Capricorn goes direct. Saturn has been revealing where institutional infrastructures — government, schools, banks, churches, and agriculture — need restructuring. The year 2020 has been quite evident of this.
As the collective eases out of reflecting on Saturnian things, it will shift to focus on reflecting on the material world (Taurus) and how to engage with it in a healthier way (Scorpio).
